Carrie Eighmey, the head coach of the University of Idaho women’s basketball team, has resigned from her position after just one season. Eighmey has decided to pursue another Division I head coaching opportunity closer to her Midwest roots. In her time at Idaho, Eighmey led the team to a 15-16 record and won an early-season tournament championship at the Bank of Hawaii Classic. Two players earned All-Conference honors under her leadership.
Associate Head Coach Arthur Moreira and Assistant Coach Drew Muscatell will remain on the staff at the University of Idaho. Athletic Director Terry Gawlik expressed gratitude towards Eighmey for her contributions to Vandal women’s basketball and wished her the best as she moves on to new opportunities in the Midwest. Gawlik also mentioned that the university believes they have the resources to build a successful program and will continue to move forward with that goal in mind.
Eighmey’s departure marks a new chapter for the University of Idaho women’s basketball team, as they begin the search for a new head coach to lead the team. With the support of the remaining coaching staff and the university’s resources, the Vandals are optimistic about the future of the program. Fans and supporters of the team can look forward to the upcoming season with anticipation and excitement as the team prepares for the next chapter in their journey.
