The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office is urging everyone to plan for a safe ride home during the 100 deadliest days of summer between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. With the number of fatality crashes at their highest level during this time, it is crucial to avoid impaired driving. Thirty-one people have already been killed in crashes in Idaho since Memorial Day weekend. Many people fail to plan for a sober driver after their celebrations, trips, and events, leading to tragic consequences. Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with law enforcement from across the state and the Idaho Transportation Department Office of Highway Safety, are mobilizing extra resources to stop drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol until July 10th. They will be actively looking for and responding to reports of impaired drivers to prevent tragic accidents. It is important to make the smart choice and avoid driving if you have been using alcohol or drugs. For more information on safe driving, visit the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office website. Celebrate responsibly and ensure a safe ride home for yourself and others this summer.
