Idaho State Police are currently investigating a crash that took place on Wednesday afternoon on westbound Interstate 86 in Power County. The incident involved a 70-year-old female from Ashland, Oregon who was riding a 2023 Harley Davidson Trike eastbound on I-86. A white 2015 Ram 1500 driven by a 23-year-old male from American Falls traveling westbound lost its rear wheel, causing the tire to enter the eastbound lanes and strike the Harley Davidson. The rider of the Harley Davidson, who was wearing a helmet, was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment. The crash resulted in a 36-minute closure of I-86 to allow emergency responders to assist the individuals involved. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
The Idaho State Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward. The safety of all motorists on Idaho roads is a top priority, and accidents like these remind us of the importance of staying cautious and alert while driving.
