A tragic incident at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago has left a woman dead after she was found entangled in machinery in a baggage-processing area. The woman, who was 57 years old, was discovered by firefighters who responded to a call about a person pinned in machinery used to move baggage. It was determined that she was not an airport employee, and it remains unclear how she gained access to the baggage room.
The Chicago Police Department has opened an investigation into the incident, and it was initially reported that the woman was found at 2.27am, but it was later clarified that she was actually discovered at 7.30am after surveillance footage showed her entering the room at the earlier time. Unfortunately, the footage does not show what happened to her after she entered the room.
Scott Allen, a spokesperson for the US Department of Labor, confirmed that an official from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) visited the scene. However, further details about the incident have not been released.
This unfortunate event has raised questions about the safety and security protocols at the airport, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances that led to the woman’s death. The Chicago Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as they continue their investigation.
