Former North Idaho College volleyball coach Brittany Tilleman is facing uncertainty after being let go by the school following allegations of hard practices and unhappiness among players. Despite leading the team to a 32-2 record and a perfect 16-0 conference play, Tilleman is now trying to figure out her next steps.
Tilleman, a former NIC athlete and assistant coach, was not given any notice or warning before the administration decided not to renew her contract. She believes that the allegations were blown out of proportion and that some players who were unhappy with playing time or unprepared for collegiate-level play might have influenced the decision.
During her time at NIC, Tilleman had a successful career both as a player and a coach. She received numerous awards and accolades for her contributions to the team. She has since appealed the decision not to renew her contract, but the school’s administration has stood by their decision.
NIC is currently conducting a search for the program’s next coach, marking the third coaching change in three years for the team. Tilleman, on the other hand, is focusing on being home with her kids while keeping her options open for future coaching opportunities.
Despite the unexpected end to her time at NIC, Tilleman is proud of the accomplishments of the team under her guidance and remains grateful for the experience. The team’s impressive performance in the Northwest Athletic Conference and their dedication to improvement throughout the season will be remembered as a testament to their hard work and commitment to success.
