Rulon Olson Arrested Following High-Speed Pursuit in Idaho Falls
IDAHO FALLS — A 34-year-old man, identified as Rulon Olson, was apprehended Friday morning after a police chase along U.S. Highway 20. Idaho State Police troopers stopped Olson’s 2006 Mazda 5 for a turn signal violation near Old Butte Road at approximately 10:30 a.m. Upon discovering multiple outstanding warrants against him, Olson fled the scene, prompting a pursuit by law enforcement.
During the chase, Olson allegedly collided with a patrol car before fleeing on foot into a nearby field after officers managed to stop his vehicle. Law enforcement quickly captured Olson, who has been booked into Bonneville County Jail on numerous charges, including felony eluding, felony child endangerment, and felony assault on a law enforcement officer, along with damage to state property and resisting arrest.
The incident involved two other passengers in Olson’s vehicle—a 26-year-old woman and a child—who both sustained minor injuries. They received medical treatment but have since been released.
Assistance was provided during the incident by the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office and the Pocatello Police Department. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as authorities continue their inquiries into Olson’s actions and the circumstances surrounding the chase.
This incident serves as a reminder of the risks associated with evading law enforcement and the potential consequences of such decisions. For more updates and news, visit East Idaho News.
