Official Proclamation in Bingham County Honoring America’s Origins

Bingham County in Idaho is celebrating the upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in a unique way. They have declared April 18, 2025, as “Two Lights for Tomorrow Day” to honor the events of April 18, 1775, when Paul Revere made his famous midnight ride. A declaration will be signed by county commissioners at the Bingham County Courthouse to mark the occasion. The declaration encourages residents to display two lights on April 18th in honor of the nation’s history and unity while designating April 19 as a day of community service.

The initiative is part of a nationwide campaign to commemorate America’s 250th birthday and celebrate its founding. While neighboring counties may not be participating in the “Two Lights for Tomorrow” initiative, various events and activities will be held statewide leading up to the anniversary in 2026. The Bingham County Historical Society Executive Director, Heather McPhie, is excited for the community’s involvement in honoring the nation’s history and hopes that residents reflect on the sacrifices made by early American settlers during the Revolutionary War.

The declaration is set to inspire volunteerism and service among residents in Bingham County, with JustServe organizing service projects on April 19. McPhie is grateful for the county commissioners’ support and looks forward to celebrating America’s 250-year legacy with the community. This event highlights the county’s role in preserving American history and honoring those who fought for the nation’s independence.
