Changes to Westbound I-90 on-ramp will affect traffic in Post Falls

The westbound I-90 on-ramp at State Highway 41 in Post Falls, Idaho, is set to shift north near Central Avenue next week as part of the ongoing Interstate 90 and State Highway 41 Interchange project. This shift will allow for a seamless merge for southbound traffic from SH-41 onto the on-ramp, eliminating the need for a dedicated right turn. However, northbound drivers on SH-41 will face new travel patterns, needing to detour north to 16th Avenue for a U-turn then head south to merge onto the new westbound on-ramp.

The closure will last through fall 2025, with the westbound off-ramp remaining closed as crews construct a new off-ramp and single-point urban interchange. Traffic is being redirected to the Seltice Way Interchange at Exit 6 and Central Avenue is closed for SH-41 widening, impacting business access.

The entire project, which includes improvements to SH-41 and local roads, is expected to be completed in 2026. For more information, interested individuals can visit the project website. This project aims to improve traffic flow and safety in the area, and while the temporary closures may cause inconvenience, the long-term benefits are expected to outweigh any short-term disruptions.
