Skyline High School’s Shay Shippen was recently named the 5A District 6 Player of the Year for her outstanding performance in girls basketball. Shippen, who will be playing at Columbia University, set a record as the all-time leading scorer in state history this season. She averaged 23.6 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and also led her team in blocks and steals. Her teammate Macy Marlow was named Defensive Player of the Year. Raimee Odum, the coach of the Blackfoot team, was awarded Coach of the Year after leading her team to the district tournament title. The District 6 5A All-Conference Team also included several standout players from Blackfoot, Hillcrest, Idaho Falls, Shelley, and Bonneville.
Shippen’s impressive performance on the court has garnered attention and accolades from coaches and fans alike. Marlow’s defensive skills were recognized with the Defensive Player of the Year award, showcasing the strength and talent of Skyline’s team. Odum’s coaching abilities were highlighted by leading her team to a tournament victory, earning her the Coach of the Year title.
