Watersprings High School’s boys basketball team has taken the top spot in this week’s 1A state media poll after a victory over previous No. 1 Rockland. Meanwhile, Preston remains at the top of the 5A rankings with all 10 first-place votes, followed by Hillcrest. In the 6A category, Owyhee maintains its lead despite receiving competition from Madison, which received a first-place vote. The 4A rankings are dominated by east Idaho teams, with Snake River, Sugar-Salem, and American Falls following closely behind Bonners Ferry. Teton also received votes in this category. West Side and Firth hold onto the No. 2 and No. 5 spots in 2A, with Butte County making its way into the rankings at No. 4.

In other classifications, Declo leads 3A, Kamiah is at the top in 2A, and Watersprings has secured the No. 1 position in 1A. The state media poll is conducted by a panel of voters from various Idaho newspapers and news outlets.
