The Idaho Statesman, in collaboration with Boise State’s Institute for Advancing American Values, is hosting a panel discussion featuring young Idahoans aged 16 to 25 who feel overlooked and underestimated in the state’s political arena. The event aims to amplify the voices of the next generation of political leaders, regardless of their party affiliations.
These youth are actively engaged in student politics, youth political groups, and volunteering for candidates they support. Despite their efforts to participate in hearings and testify on issues that affect them, they often feel ignored and sidelined.
The panelists are frustrated by the polarized nature of today’s politics and believe it is crucial for young people to have a seat at the table to shape tomorrow’s laws. One participant, Palin Hurst, emphasizes the importance of youth involvement in shaping legislation.
The panel discussion, moderated by Idaho Statesman opinion editor Scott McIntosh, is open for registration and attendance to anyone interested in hearing the perspectives of these young Idahoans. They are eager to delve into issues and make a difference despite the obstacles they face in the current political landscape.
