Jefferson County ex-deputy indicted on federal charges for possessing and distributing child pornography

Former Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy, Caleb Sickinger, has been charged with felony receipt of child pornography by a grand jury in federal court. The charges stem from crimes committed between December 2, 2022, and September 17, 2023. Sickinger recently waived the grand jury process and agreed to be charged in federal court as part of a plea agreement. The agreement includes pleading guilty to the charge in exchange for the government not pursuing charges for the production of child pornography. Sickinger’s sentencing is scheduled for July 1. The case originated from the arrest of a man in Alabama for coercion and enticement of a minor. This man, Justin Lindstrom, provided FBI agents with information related to child pornography received via email from a woman in Idaho. Further investigation revealed that Sickinger impersonated the woman and communicated with Lindstrom, sending child pornography. Sickinger confessed to pretending to be the woman and sending the images to Lindstrom. Neither the woman nor the minor victim were found to be involved in the crimes. The FBI identified Sickinger as a police officer living in Rigby, Idaho, where he was not employed at the local police department during the period in question. The U.S. Attorney’s office has been contacted for comment. Stay updated on this developing story at https://www.eastidahonews.com/.
