No. 10 Idaho Defeats No. 25 Northern Arizona, 23-17

The No. 25 Northern Arizona football team suffered a tough 23-17 loss to No. 10 Idaho in a Big Sky Conference matchup. Despite a slow start, the Lumberjacks showed resilience in the second half. Quarterback Ty Pennington left the game with an injury, and backup PJ London stepped in to lead the team. NAU’s defense held Idaho to just three points in the second half but couldn’t complete the comeback. Receiver Bryzai White had a standout performance with 72 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Coach Brian Wright praised the team’s fight in the second half but acknowledged the need to put together a full four quarters. Despite the loss, the Lumberjacks outgained the Vandals in total offense, with 314 yards to 313. Tommy Ellis and Zach Lewis led the team in tackles, while J’Wan Evans stood out as the leading rusher.

Northern Arizona will look to bounce back on the road against Montana in their next game. The team showed determination and resilience in the face of adversity, and they will be looking to carry that mindset into their upcoming matchups. Although the loss drops NAU to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play, they remain determined to improve and compete at a high level as the season progresses.
