Cooper joins Idaho football as new strength and conditioning coach

MOSCOW — Idaho football has made a significant addition to their coaching staff with the hiring of Jamel Cooper as the new head strength and conditioning coach. Cooper brings a wealth of experience to the team, having most recently worked with the Los Angeles Rams as an associate strength and conditioning coach, where he was part of the staff for their Super Bowl 56 championship win in 2022.

Prior to his time with the Rams, Cooper also held positions at Louisville, Wake Forest, and Middle Tennessee State, gaining valuable experience in college football strength and conditioning programs. His background in both the NFL and college athletics makes him a valuable asset to the Idaho football program.

Idaho head coach Thomas Ford Jr. praised Cooper’s expertise in strength and conditioning, as well as his ability to motivate and build relationships with players. Ford noted that Cooper’s experience in the NFL has given him valuable insight into developing year-round programs that not only improve performance but also prioritize player health and safety.

Cooper, a two-time graduate of Georgia Southern University, where he also played as a running back, brings a strong background in exercise science and coaching education to his new role. His passion for strength and conditioning, coupled with his proven track record of success, make him a valuable addition to the Idaho football coaching staff as they look to continue developing their players in the weight room.
