Community honors memory of teenage hockey player killed in tragic accident with #Sticks4Carter tribute


The community of Idaho Falls is mourning the loss of a beloved 17-year-old hockey player, Carter Barnes, who tragically passed away after a car crash in Shelley. Known for his infectious spirit and love for life, Carter was a central player for the Idaho Falls Youth Hockey Association and had a passion for math and website design. His family and friends remember him as a bright, curious, and kind-hearted young man who always showed love and support to those around him.

Carter’s impact on the hockey community has been felt far and wide, with the Idaho Falls Youth Hockey Association organizing the #Sticks4Carter campaign to honor his memory. People from as far as Fairbanks, Alaska have participated in the campaign, placing hockey sticks on their porches as a tribute to the remarkable young man Carter was.

Despite the tragedy, Carter’s family is finding comfort in the outpouring of support from the community and the love that Carter shared with everyone he met. His celebration of life will be held at the Ammon North Stake Center, with visitation at Wood Funeral Home East Side.
