Idaho becomes a part of the nationwide Two Lights for Tomorrow initiative

State capitals across the country, including Boise, Idaho, are joining together to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere’s historic ride to alert the people of the British army’s arrival. Idaho’s event took place at the State Capitol building with performances by Boise State University’s string quartet and the Opera Idaho Children’s Chorus, as well as a lantern lighting ceremony led by Gov. Brad Little and First Lady Teresa Little.

The event, called Two Lights for Tomorrow, was organized by America250, a Congressional caucus established in 2016 to plan and facilitate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Gov. Little highlighted the bravery and commitment of patriots like Paul Revere and emphasized the importance of honoring their legacy.

The official 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence will be celebrated on July 4, 2026. These events serve as a reminder of the courage and sacrifice that built the foundation of the country and inspire citizens to continue to uphold its values. The performances and speeches at Idaho’s event showcased the deep-rooted patriotism and commitment to honoring America’s history and founding principles.
