Three student-athletes from local high schools were among the winners at the 62nd North Idaho Athletic Hall of Fame Awards Banquet. Pepper Rickert, a sophomore from Sandpoint High, was named the Girls Tennis Athlete of the Year, while Lilliana Brinkmeier, a senior from Sandpoint High, was named the Girls Soccer Co-Athlete of the Year. Palmer Coleman, a senior from Priest River High, was named the Boys Golf Athlete of the Year. This banquet honors outstanding high school athletes, coaches, and teams from the region.
Rickert, who captured the Idaho state 4A title and led her team to their first state tennis title, posted an impressive record of 24-0 and only lost nine games over the course of 48 sets. Brinkmeier, committed to NCAA Division II Fort Lewis College, was named the Idaho Statesman’s 5A Player of the Year for girls soccer. Coleman won medalist honors in boys golf at the 2A-1A state tournament and also won the district title.
Additionally, several other high school and college athletes, coaches, and teams were honored at the event, which drew approximately 850 people. The awards also included the Character Award winners, recognizing student-athletes who excel in academics, teamwork, work ethic, integrity, sportsmanship, and community involvement.
Overall, the North Idaho Hall of Fame Awards Banquet celebrated the achievements of student-athletes from 29 high schools and three colleges in the region, showcasing the talent and dedication of these individuals in various sports categories.
