Idaho Cornerback Marcus Harris Selected by Titans in NFL Draft
MOSCOW, Idaho – In a thrilling NFL Draft weekend in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the Tennessee Titans selected Idaho graduate cornerback Marcus Harris in the sixth round, 183rd overall. Also finding a new team, Tommy McCormick signed a free-agent contract with the New York Giants.
During his standout career at Idaho from 2021 to 2023, Harris established himself as a premier defensive back in the FCS. He recorded six interceptions and 154 tackles across 40 games, earning All-Big Sky honors in his sophomore year and making the Hero Sports Sophomore All-American team. His exceptional performance continued into 2023, culminating in an AP First Team All-American selection and breaking Idaho’s career passes defended record with three interceptions and 51 tackles.
Coach Ford praised Harris, noting his NFL potential, "Marcus consistently shut down half of the field and has elite speed and instincts," he said. Ford drew from personal experience, having faced Harris when he was at Cal.
Also making waves, McCormick, a three-time all-conference player, completed his collegiate career with 273 tackles, nine tackles for loss, seven interceptions, and 24 passes defended. As a medical sciences major, he earned accolades as one of the FCS ADA Scholar-Athletes of the Year and will graduate this semester. Coach Ford affectionately referred to him as "Turnover Tommy," emphasizing his knack for making crucial plays.
Harris marks the first draft selection from Idaho since 2019, and with the 2025 draft, five Vandals now occupy NFL rosters, showcasing the program’s continued growth and talent development.
