Press Release

Charges Recommended Against Security Firm Employees Following Controversial Incident at KCRCC Town Hall

COEUR d’ALENE, Idaho – An incident involving local security company LEAR Asset Management has sparked controversy and prompted the Coeur d’Alene Police Department to recommend charges against five of its employees. The case centers on February’s forcible removal of Teresa Borrenpohl from a Kootenai County Republican Central Committee (KCRCC) town hall, an event that quickly went viral.

Paul Trouette, the owner of LEAR Asset Management, expressed his intent to defend the allegations, deeming them false. "We’re building a defense and feel very favorable about it," he stated.

Witness Laura Tenneson, a friend of Borrenpohl, shared her distressing experience from the event. "It was terrifying, and I had major anxiety for days," Tenneson recalled. She described how Borrenpohl was forcibly dragged out of the hall by her limbs and hair, resulting in significant bruising and scrapes.

The police report confirms Borrenpohl’s injuries, noting that she felt as sore as she did after a prior car accident. The charges recommended against the security employees include battery, false imprisonment, and failure to display proper identification.

Tenneson indicated Borrenpohl plans to file a lawsuit, though details regarding potential defendants remain unclear. "She’s doing better, but this isn’t something she’ll get over quickly," Tenneson remarked.

KCRCC chairman Brent Regan announced that a formal statement would be to follow. Meanwhile, Sheriff Bob Norris, currently facing scrutiny from an independent investigation, has not commented. Tenneson asserts that Sheriff Norris should also face charges, calling him "the conductor of that three-ring circus."

The city prosecutor will evaluate the police findings to determine if formal charges will ensue.
