CONNECT Idaho: A New Networking Initiative Aims to Boost Local Businesses
POCATELLO — A new networking group, CONNECT Idaho, is making waves among local entrepreneurs looking to expand their business connections. Launched six weeks ago by local businessman Morgan McKell, who serves as Senior Community Director, CONNECT Idaho is an offshoot of the successful CONNECT Utah network and is the first of its kind in eastern Idaho.
McKell, who moved to Pocatello two years ago, is the founder of Strategy Zoo, a company specializing in tailored marketing strategies. His entrepreneurial experience includes establishing a multi-state cell phone repair business and a digital marketing agency. Recognizing a demand for casual networking opportunities, he created CONNECT Idaho to foster genuine relationships among business owners.
Meeting weekly at Señor Garcia’s Puerto Vallarta, the group welcomes individuals without any membership fees or prior RSVPs. "We just ask that you buy lunch to support the restaurant," McKell noted, emphasizing the group’s informal and inclusive atmosphere. Attendees have the chance to present brief elevator pitches, while those wanting to delve deeper into their businesses can sign up for a paid 15-minute Business Overview.
CONNECT Idaho is dedicated to inclusivity, encouraging participation from all businesses, from real estate to roofing. "The more we understand what you do, the easier it is to provide the right referrals," said McKell, who has already seen members transform from part-time ventures to full-time operations through the connections made at the gatherings.
In addition to CONNECT Idaho, McKell also founded the East Idaho Mastermind group last year, which focuses on leadership and personal development. He aims to expand CONNECT Idaho to neighboring cities like Blackfoot and Idaho Falls, attracting more local business professionals.
