Zyan Crockett Named 2024 MaxPreps Idaho High School Football Player of the Year
MaxPreps continues its proud tradition of celebrating high school football excellence by announcing Zyan Crockett as the 2024 MaxPreps Idaho High School Football Player of the Year. A junior at Skyline High School in Idaho Falls, Crockett has been instrumental in leading the Grizzlies to a commendable 10-3 record and a Class 5A state runner-up finish.
The 5-foot-10, 170-pound standout had an impressive season, serving as both the team’s leading receiver and rusher. Crockett recorded 52 receptions for 939 yards and 10 touchdowns, while also carrying the ball 107 times for 737 yards and 13 touchdowns. His versatility shone through as he contributed in the return game with two more touchdowns and even completed two of three pass attempts for 103 yards and a touchdown.
In the pivotal state championship game, Crockett delivered a stellar performance, logging season highs with nine receptions for 151 yards, along with eight carries for 31 yards and a touchdown in a 31-8 loss to Hillcrest (Idaho Falls). Earlier in the season, he demonstrated his impact by helping Skyline secure a 28-16 victory over Hillcrest, accounting for 135 total yards and three touchdowns.
Crockett’s standout performances continued throughout the playoffs, where he led the Grizzlies to a decisive 42-14 win against Nampa, amassing 98 yards and two touchdowns on the ground alongside 39 receiving yards.
The MaxPreps Player of the Year honors reflect not only individual statistics but also contributions to team success and community recognition. Crockett will be in consideration for inclusion in the prestigious MaxPreps All-America Team, joining an illustrious list of past recipients from Idaho.
