Press Release: Westbound I-84 Closure for Construction Near Nampa, ID
Nampa, ID (CBS2) — The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) has announced a full closure of westbound Interstate 84 between the Garrity and Ten Mile interchanges scheduled for Wednesday night. The closure will take place from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday, facilitating the mobilization of a large crane and essential materials into the center median for the next phase of construction at the I-84/State Highway 16 System Interchange.
Motorists are advised to prepare for detours during this period. Traffic will be redirected to exit at Ten Mile (Exit 42) and follow Franklin Road to reach the Garrity Interchange (Exit 38).
In conjunction with this full closure, ongoing nighttime lane restrictions will persist on both eastbound and westbound I-84 for several weeks. Construction work is set to take place nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. between the Ten Mile and Garrity interchanges. While at least two lanes will remain open overnight, a reduction in the speed limit to 55 mph will be enforced to ensure the safety of construction crews.
For those seeking updates about the ongoing State Highway 16 project, the ITD encourages residents to text HIGHWAY16 to 1-866-483-8422.
Motorists are urged to adhere to the detour routes and remain vigilant in construction zones to ensure safety for all road users. Further updates will be provided as the project progresses.
