Operation Homefront Supports Military Families in Need During Appreciation Month
MERIDIAN, Idaho — In a heartening display of community support, Operation Homefront distributed shelf-stable meal kits and grocery gift cards to 100 local military families to address the pressing issue of food insecurity affecting one in four military households. The event took place during Military Appreciation Month, showcasing gratitude for those who serve the nation.
As volunteers handed out food packs at Swire Coca-Cola in Meridian, they expressed heartfelt thanks to the military members present. “Have a great weekend, thanks for your service,” a volunteer remarked, creating a warm atmosphere of appreciation.
Among those benefiting from the initiative was Air Force First Sergeant Erin Seley, who emphasized the importance of organizations like Operation Homefront: “It’s super important to have support for military families given the food insecurities we face,” she stated. Seley, along with other families from Mountain Home, attended the event, highlighting the community’s role in providing relief.
Beth Desloges, Senior Regional Development Manager for Operation Homefront, underlined their commitment to military families. “Serving those families is very important to us; they’re there for us in our time of need, and it’s essential to reciprocate,” she explained.
