Two Arrested in Idaho Falls After Deputy Assaulted
IDAHO FALLS — In the early hours of Saturday morning, two individuals were arrested following a confrontation with law enforcement near Lindsay Boulevard and US Highway 20. Jordan Pence, 25, faces serious charges, including felony battery on a peace officer, misdemeanor resisting arrest, and carrying a concealed weapon while under the influence. His companion, Mikayla Hill, 27, is charged with driving without privileges and her second DUI.
According to the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped Hill’s vehicle after observing signs of intoxication. During the stop, Pence became aggressive, exiting the car and attempting to open the trunk despite requests to remain inside. The situation escalated when Pence allegedly confronted a deputy, yelling obscenities and eventually assaulting the officer by shoving him and delivering a punch.
Deputies managed to restrain Pence after a struggle, during which a loaded handgun fell from his waistband. He was subsequently treated for injuries at a local hospital before being taken to the Bonneville County Jail. Meanwhile, Hill admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving, with breath test results revealing a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.12, well above the legal limit.
The assaulted deputy received treatment for a contusion and was later released. Pence faces a potential sentence of up to 26.5 years if convicted, while Hill could serve up to one year. Both individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty, with Pence scheduled for a preliminary hearing on May 16. Further court dates for Hill have yet to be determined.
