Adarius Hayes, a linebacker for the University of Miami, was involved in a tragic car crash in his hometown of Largo, Florida, that resulted in the deaths of two young children: 10-year-old Jabari Elijah Solomon and 4-year-old Charlie Herbert Solomon Riveria. The incident occurred around 1:45 p.m. on Saturday when a Dodge Durango reportedly collided with a Kia Soul making a left turn. The Largo Police Department confirmed Hayes’ involvement in the crash, which also left several others with serious injuries. Initial investigations reveal that alcohol was not a factor in the incident, and the police are continuing to investigate the circumstances.
Hayes himself sustained injuries in the accident. As of now, there has been no update on his condition from the University of Miami’s athletic department. The university’s spring semester had just concluded, with final exams finishing last Wednesday. In his freshman season, Hayes played in 12 games and was recognized as a crucial player on special teams, contributing with four tackles and one interception. He also participated in the Pop-Tarts Bowl, where Miami narrowly lost to Iowa State.
Before joining the University of Miami, Hayes was a standout linebacker at Largo High School and was regarded as a “four-star prospect,” ranking among the nation’s top linebackers. The community is grieving the loss of the two children while the investigation into the crash continues. The University of Miami and its representatives did not immediately respond to inquiries regarding Hayes.
