Press Release: Serious Crash Involving Semi-Truck in Wellington Sends Five to Hospital
Wellington, Utah — A serious incident occurred early Monday morning when a semitruck hauling crude oil crashed into a home in Wellington, injuring five individuals. Emergency crews responded to the scene near 900 East and Main Street shortly before 6:30 a.m.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP), the truck was heading east on U.S. 6 — Main Street in Wellington — when it unexpectedly veered right off the road. The truck first struck six parked vehicles at an auto repair shop, then collided with a utility pole, a fire hydrant, and fencing, before finally crashing into the residence.
Three occupants were inside the home during the incident. A man and woman, whose ages remain undisclosed, were struck by the vehicle and subsequently transported by ambulance, then flown by medical helicopter to a different hospital. Their current conditions have not been released. Additionally, a 12-year-old boy who was asleep in his bed at the time was taken to a hospital, though authorities report he sustained no injuries.
The two drivers inside the truck also suffered injuries, with reports indicating they range from serious to critical. Their identities and ages have not yet been disclosed.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, with assistance from local police, firefighters, and first responders from Price and Carbon County. Crews from Rocky Mountain Power and Enbridge Gas Company were also dispatched to address related utility issues.
