Shelley to Host Idaho’s Capital for a Day Event
SHELLEY, ID — The city of Shelley will become the center of Idaho’s governmental activities this Wednesday as it hosts the next "Capital for a Day" event. Governor Brad Little, along with various state agency directors, will travel to this southeastern Idaho community to engage with residents on state issues and programs.
The Capital for a Day initiative is designed to facilitate direct communication between state officials and local citizens. “This is a great opportunity for my administration to hear from Idahoans about the needs of their community,” remarked Little in a statement. He expressed enthusiasm for interacting with the residents of Bingham County, aiming to gather insights on how the state can better serve them.
The event will take place on May 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Heart 2 Hand Bingham Food Pantry, located at 190 S. Holmes Avenue in Shelley. This initiative follows in the footsteps of former Governor Butch Otter, who regularly held similar events throughout his tenure.
Joining Governor Little will be several key officials, including Idaho Lt. Gov. Scott Bedke, various agency directors from departments such as Agriculture, Water Resources, and Transportation, as well as representatives from the Idaho State Police and the Department of Environmental Quality.
The open forum format allows local residents to pose questions and provide suggestions directly to state leaders, fostering a more connected and responsive state government.
