Nominees Announced for North Idaho Hall of Fame Athletic Awards
The North Idaho Hall of Fame (NIHOF) has unveiled its nominees ahead of its 62nd annual banquet, set for April 12 at the Coeur d’Alene Resort, where the award winners will be announced. Notable inductees for 2024 include former Idaho volleyball coach Debbie Buchanan and NFL offensive lineman Mike Iupati. Among the nominees for the prestigious Athlete of the Year award is Lewiston’s outstanding multisport athlete, Addy McKarcher.
The banquet will kick off with a social hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by the banquet starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are priced at $40 for individuals or $400 for tables of eight and can be purchased at nihof.com. The event will also be livestreamed on idahosports.com.
The NIHOF, founded by the late Duane Hagadone, operates with an all-volunteer board of 18 members, including distinguished figures like Lewiston superintendent Tim Sperber and Potlatch athletic director Katie Ball. Board member Bert Sahlberg emphasized the collective effort involved in the selection and nomination process, which encompasses athletes and coaches from 29 high schools and three colleges in the region.
This year sees high school athletes like McKarcher vying for titles in multiple categories, alongside other prominent nominees such as Moscow’s baseball team and Kendrick’s championship football and basketball teams.
Additionally, Idaho football’s new head coach Thomas Ford Jr. will be a featured speaker at the banquet, creating excitement ahead of the forthcoming awards.
