Trump Expected to Pardon Reality TV Stars Todd and Julie Chrisley for Fraud and Tax Evasion Convictions

Trump Plans Pardons for Reality Stars Todd and Julie Chrisley

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday his intention to pardon Todd and Julie Chrisley, stars of the reality show "Chrisley Knows Best." The couple gained notoriety for their lavish lifestyle, which led to their conviction in 2022 for bank fraud and tax evasion.

Prosecutors revealed that the Chrisleys conspired to defraud banks in the Atlanta area of over $30 million by submitting false documents. Additionally, they faced charges for hiding their earnings, despite showcasing a high-end lifestyle that included luxury cars and designer clothing. Todd Chrisley’s declaration of bankruptcy ultimately left more than $20 million in unpaid loans.

In their sentencing, Todd received 12 years in federal prison, while Julie was given a seven-year sentence. They were also mandated to pay $17.8 million in restitution. During a call with their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, Trump expressed hope for a swift pardon, suggesting they have faced "harsh treatment." A White House official confirmed that the pardons are forthcoming.

Trump’s move continues his pattern of pardoning high-profile allies and supporters, including a former Virginia sheriff and a Florida health care executive. Commenting on the Chrisleys’ case, their attorney, Alex Little, stated that the pardon corrects a "deep injustice," asserting that the couple was targeted due to their conservative values and prominence.

Savannah Chrisley, while speaking at the 2024 Republican National Convention, echoed sentiments about her parents being politically persecuted, likening them to Trump. She recounted how prosecutors labeled them the "Trumps of the South," a phrase she embraces as a mark of pride.

Thanks to Trump’s impending pardons, the Chrisley family looks forward to healing and rebuilding their lives after their tumultuous legal battle.
