Fangyuan Li Joins Idaho Women’s Tennis Team as Assistant Coach
Moscow, ID — The Idaho Women’s Tennis Team has welcomed Fangyuan Li as its new Assistant Coach, marking an exciting addition to the coaching staff. Li brings over a decade of diverse coaching experience, including roles in collegiate, professional, and youth athletics. Before this position, he excelled as the assistant coach for the Idaho men’s team from 2022 to 2024.
Li’s tennis journey began at the age of seven, leading to impressive achievements including a U14 championship at the Jinan Youth Tennis Championships and a key role in securing a Shandong Provincial Championship for Ji Gang High School. As a collegiate athlete at the South China University of Technology, he contributed to his team’s placement at the National College Tennis Championships.
Throughout his coaching career in China, Li has helped athletes excel at provincial and national levels, notably steering the Jinan Women’s Tennis Team to a U16 championship during the 25th Shandong Provincial Competition. At Idaho, his contributions have also extended to recruitment, most notably signing standout prospect Chenyue Xu for the upcoming 2024 roster.
Li’s coaching philosophy emphasizes holistic athlete development. He focuses on individualized technical, tactical, and mental training designed to enhance performance both on and off the court. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Adult, Organizational Learning & Leadership at the University of Idaho, under the guidance of Dr. Sharon Kay Stoll. In addition to his academic pursuits, Li holds two master’s degrees and is recognized as an ACSM-CASM credentialed Exercise Physiologist, showcasing his commitment to advancing sports science education and health coaching.
Li’s multifaceted expertise positions him as a valuable asset to the Idaho Women’s Tennis Team and its aspirations for future success.
