Square Launches AI Assistant to Streamline Business Solutions for Sellers
Square has unveiled its latest innovation, Square AI, a conversational artificial intelligence assistant designed to help sellers navigate the company’s business technology platform. Currently available in public beta for U.S. sellers, this feature is integrated within the Square Dashboard, enhancing user experience and support.
Willem Avé, Square’s global head of product, emphasized the initiative’s goal: “Our aim is to provide each seller with a virtual employee that comprehensively understands their business.” The AI assistant employs a knowledge base to offer step-by-step guidance on platform functionalities and utilizes sellers’ data to address inquiries about sales, customer trends, and operational efficiency.
Square AI empowers sellers to optimize staffing, identify slow-moving inventory, and recognize top-performing products and customers, fostering greater business insight. The company has plans to expand these capabilities throughout the year, recognizing that “the best data exploration is conversational,” as stated by Avé.
Data security remains a top priority for Square. The AI assistant is exclusively accessible to account owners and administrators, ensuring that sensitive information is protected. Square guarantees that no critical data is shared with external model providers or used for training purposes outside of its secure systems.
This AI launch complements a suite of other AI-driven tools introduced by Square, such as AI-generated product descriptions and website backgrounds. Square’s parent company, Block, is also advancing an internal AI initiative named “goose,” touted as a forthcoming universal interface for employees and customers, aiming to serve as a personal CFO for consumers and a COO for sellers by year’s end.
With the introduction of Square AI, the company is poised to enhance the seller experience while maintaining robust data protection protocols.
