Boise Burn Suspends Operations, Eyeing Future in Arena Football
(Boise, ID) — The Boise Burn has officially suspended its day-to-day operations, effective immediately. Idaho Sports Properties, the Burn’s managing partner, is exploring future opportunities, including a potential move to join the newly-formed Arena Football 1, announced earlier this week in Tulsa, OK.
Eric Trapp, President of Idaho Sports Properties, addressed the situation, explaining that the owners of Block 22, LLC, which holds a minority stake in the Burn, will not proceed with the franchise following the decision of the majority owner to step back. "Block 22 has significant investments in the Grove Hotel, Qwest Arena, and Idaho Steelheads hockey and will redirect our focus to those ventures," Trapp stated.
However, he emphasized that the possibility of restoring indoor or arena football at Qwest Arena remains open. To facilitate a return, a new financial partner is required to take over the majority stake in the Burn. Once a new investor is secured, the Burn could pursue participation in Arena Football 1, which recently announced sixteen teams during its launch.
While the league’s structure and details remain scarce, there is optimism about a revival in Boise’s football scene. In the meantime, season ticket holders who had committed to the 2010 season will receive immediate refunds, illustrating a commitment to customer service during this transitional phase.
The future of indoor football in Boise now hinges on the search for a financial partner, with potential twists and turns ahead for both the Burn and local sports fans. Stay tuned for more updates as developments unfold.
