Eastern Idaho Teams Compete for IdahoSports.com Team of the Year Title
Eastern Idaho—Several local teams are in the race for the prestigious IdahoSports.com Team of the Year accolade. The selection process takes the form of a 16-team bracket, with voting for the first round now open and running through Saturday.
Among the teams contending for the title are Hillcrest football, Sugar-Salem track and field, Pocatello girls soccer, Malad boys wrestling, Grace Lutheran volleyball, Preston boys basketball, Bonneville baseball, and Ririe girls cross-country. Notably, some local champions were not included in the bracket.
The Idaho Sports staff has noted that the teams were chosen based on various criteria. The bracket maintains a balanced representation of boys’ and girls’ teams, with eight of each. Additionally, no single school or sport features more than one representative.
Voting will continue throughout the month of June, with winning teams advancing weekly in this tournament-style selection. Fans can cast their votes for their favorite teams on the Idaho Sports website.
This initiative not only highlights the diverse talent within local sports but also engages the community in recognizing and celebrating their achievements. Voting ends Saturday for the first round, so supporters are encouraged to act quickly.
