56-Year-Old Man Arrested After Allegedly Shooting at Neighbor’s Car
ABERDEEN — Paul James Bradley, 56, was arrested following an incident where he allegedly fired a shotgun at a car, claiming it was in response to infidelity. Authorities charged him with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor property damage. If convicted, he faces up to 11 years in prison, with an additional potential 15 years for using a deadly weapon.
The altercation occurred on the evening of May 31. Police received reports of a car that had been shot and was losing air. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victims, who expressed fear and distress. The woman accused Bradley, her neighbor, of being the shooter, and indicated that the shots had come from his property.
Law enforcement established a perimeter around Bradley’s home. He exited after officers communicated with him, reportedly displaying an unsettling demeanor, smiling and giggling during the encounter. Bradley admitted to firing shots into the air to deter another man he believed was involved with the woman, but he denied targeting the car when confronted by deputies. His comments raised concerns of stalker-like behavior, according to police reports.
A shotgun was found in Bradley’s home, along with evidence linking him to the shooting, including shotgun wads and visible damage on the victims’ car, which sustained multiple shot marks and damage to the back window and tailgate.
Bradley is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 12 before Magistrate Judge James Howard Barrett Jr. While charges have been filed against him, he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
