Eastern Idaho Public Health Providing Free GIFT Transportation for Treatment and Recovery Programs

New Transportation Program Launches in Idaho Falls to Support Recovery Services

IDAHO FALLS – Eastern Idaho Public Health (EIPH) has unveiled a new transportation initiative, "Rides to Recovery," aimed at assisting individuals attending treatment and recovery programs in Idaho Falls. This initiative is made possible through a collaboration with Greater Idaho Falls Transit (GIFT) and funding from Idaho’s opioid settlement.

The program, set to run as a one-year pilot from June 2025 to June 30, 2026, underscores the importance of reliable transportation in accessing substance misuse treatment. "Transportation plays a crucial role in substance misuse treatment and recovery program participation," EIPH stated in a recent news release.

The program will offer free rides to various critical locations in Idaho Falls, including:

  • Behavioral Health Crisis Center
  • Brick House Recovery
  • Center for Hope
  • District 7 Treatment
  • Full Spectrum Psychology
  • Ideal Option
  • Stewards of Recovery

In addition, free transportation will also be available to individuals seeking services at the Eastern Idaho Public Health office.

To access the Rides to Recovery transportation services, individuals are encouraged to reach out to their case managers, counselors, or peer support representatives. They can download the GIFT On-Demand app, which is available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play, to schedule rides.

“It is vital for those engaged in recovery to have reliable transportation to attend necessary recovery meetings and treatment sessions,” EIPH highlighted. However, it is worth noting that the future of the project beyond its initial phase remains uncertain.
