Highland Rams Represent District at 6A Softball State Championships
EASTERN IDAHO — The Highland Rams stood as the sole representative from District 5-6 in this year’s 6A Softball State Championships. The team made headlines with an upset victory over Mountain View High School, who later secured the title of state runner-up. However, their journey ended in disappointment as they faced defeats against Owyhee and Timberline high schools, preventing them from contending for a trophy.
Despite their spirited efforts in the tournament, Highland and other District 5-6 teams—Madison, Thunder Ridge, and Rigby—did not receive any All-State selections, which are determined through votes by coaches in the classification and published by the Idaho Statesman.
The All-State honors saw Timberline senior Delaney Wright being named Player of the Year for her standout performance. Mountain View’s Kylie Orr was recognized as Coach of the Year, highlighting her effective management of the team throughout the season.
The First-Team All-State selections featured several talented athletes, including:
- McKena Chavez (Capital, SS)
- Hailey Brennan (Owyhee, P/RF)
- McKenna Schab (Owyhee, C/CF)
- Grace Brooks (Owyhee, P/3B)
- Peyton Bargen (Eagle, P/DH)
- Danica Quinn (Rocky Mountain, SS)
- Layla Gugino (Lake City, SS)
- Hailey Brock (Owyhee, P/CF, freshman)
- Cali Moorhouse (Centennial, 2B/Util)
- Jenna Davenport (Coeur d’Alene, P/2B)
- Audrey McKibben (Capital, LF/CF)
The Highland Rams’ participation at the state level has underscored the competitive spirit of District 5-6 softball, setting a foundation for future seasons. For more local stories and updates, visit East Idaho News.
