The Kibbie Dome, covering 4.5 acres and towering 150 feet, is cherished by Vandal fans and recognized nationally, despite mixed reviews regarding its unique design. Once dubbed “College Football’s Weirdest Stadium,” it has grown into an essential hub for Vandal pride and community gathering.

Originally built as an outdoor stadium in 1971, the Kibbie Dome aimed for NCAA Division I-A status, ultimately seating 16,000 due to legislative limitations. The roof construction showcased innovative engineering, with a lightweight yet durable design that could withstand North Idaho’s snow.
Over the years, the Dome has hosted a myriad of events, from sports to concerts, and continues to be a beloved venue for Vandal athletics. It has earned accolades from national sportswriters, recently ranking as the 26th-best stadium in college football by ESPN.
