Schweitzer Mountain Resort Launches Expanded Summer Season
Sandpoint, Idaho — Schweitzer Mountain Resort, the largest mountain destination in Washington and Idaho, kicked off its summer season with exciting new offerings on June 13. This year, visitors can enjoy enhanced outdoor adventures and wellness experiences, setting a new standard for summer fun in the mountains.
The resort’s summer program now includes expanded mountain biking terrain, enriched spa services at Cambium Spa, and vibrant mountaintop concerts. "Our summer programming continues to evolve to meet the energy and interests of our community and guests," said Tom Chasse, president and COO of Schweitzer. The resort aims to cater to everyone, from adrenaline junkies to those seeking relaxation.
With over 40 miles of mountain biking trails, Schweitzer has made significant upgrades this season, including the completion of the Collab Trail and the introduction of a new black diamond technical trail. Additionally, e-bikes are now welcomed on the mountain, allowing for a diverse biking experience. The highlight of the biking experience remains the breathtaking 12-mile descent from summit to valley, offering over 4,000 feet of vertical drop.
Schweitzer’s community-oriented approach is evident in its collaboration with various organizations to develop the Lower Basin section of the Little Sandcreek Watershed. This initiative is a result of partnerships with SMP Development, the City of Sandpoint, the Selkirk Recreation District, and Pend Oreille Pedalers. "These new trails symbolize the community Sandpoint is becoming," expressed Emily Strizich, executive director of Pend Oreille Pedalers.
As Schweitzer continues to expand its trail network, future plans include the addition of more climbing and technical bike trails, further enhancing the area’s recreational offerings. This summer promises to be an unforgettable experience for all ages.
