Idaho Transportation Department to Begin I-15 Repaving Project
Idaho Falls, ID — Starting tomorrow, the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) will commence a major repaving project on the southbound lanes of Interstate 15. The construction will take place from the Rose/Firth Exit 98 to one mile north of the West Blackfoot Exit 93. As part of the project, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction, with vehicles temporarily routed to the northbound side of the freeway.
The primary goal of the project is to reconstruct the roadway in order to address significant issues such as rutting and potholes, which have been a concern for motorists in the area. This project follows similar work on the northbound lanes that was completed last year.
Motorists are advised to remain vigilant while traveling through the construction zone. They should adhere to posted speed limits and follow all signage to ensure their safety and the efficiency of the construction process. To monitor traffic conditions and project detours, ITD recommends utilizing resources such as 511.idaho.gov or the 511 app.
The repaving work is expected to be completed by mid-August, as ITD aims to enhance the driving experience for all commuters along this crucial stretch of highway.
For ongoing updates and further details on this project, travelers can visit the Idaho Transportation Department’s website or contact local ITD offices. Stay informed and drive safely through the construction areas.
