North Fremont coach who guided team to football quarterfinals in his inaugural season accepts position in Salmon

Press Release: Keith Director Takes Helm of Salmon Football Program

IDAHO FALLS – After a standout season at North Fremont High School, where he led the football and baseball teams to significant victories, Keith Director has been appointed head coach of the Salmon Savages’ football program. Director hopes to bring renewed structure and discipline to the team, which last secured a state title in 2008.

Under his guidance, North Fremont achieved its first major football victory in decades, reaching the quarterfinals and the state playoffs in baseball during the 2024-2025 season. His decision to join Salmon was driven by the allure of revitalizing a program needing direction. “It was exciting for me to put my own stamp on a program,” Director explained. He replaces Quaid McCreary, who has transitioned to an assistant coaching position at Carroll College.

Expectations are high as Director embarks on his new role, with plans to utilize experienced personnel. Former Coach Tyrell Penner will join him as an assistant, while Sony Galvan, known for his success in fitness and conditioning, will also contribute to the program.

Director’s previous successes have created a buzz around his hiring, with Craig Larson, Salmon’s athletic director, praising his impressive reputation. As Director transfers leadership to Jason Wright at North Fremont, he leaves the program in a favorable position, expressing confidence in its future success.

Although Director is closing his training business after a fruitful 30-year career, he is eager to embrace this new chapter. “It’s kind of hard for me to accept, but I’m going to challenge myself in another area,” he noted.

The Salmon community has warmly welcomed Director, who aims to secure a playoff berth in his inaugural season despite the challenges ahead. Larson anticipates a positive influence, stating, “Keith is an exciting man, and he will be a very exciting coach for the Savages.”
