Idaho Falls Chukars Stumble Again, Fall to Raptors in Third Straight Loss
IDAHO FALLS — The Idaho Falls Chukars faced a challenging game on Wednesday night, succumbing to the Ogden Raptors at Melaleuca Field, marking their third consecutive defeat. With this loss, the Chukars’ losing streak has extended to four games, leaving them with a season record of 17-9.
The game began poorly for Idaho Falls as pitcher Garrett Van Deventer struggled to find his rhythm, surrendering six runs in the first inning. A line drive that struck him on the leg forced Van Deventer (L, 2-3) to exit after just one inning of play. Reliever Alejandro Espinoza stepped in admirably, holding the Raptors to three additional runs over four innings, but the Chukars’ offense failed to capitalize on scoring opportunities.
Izzy’s bats faced off against Ogden’s sidearming starter Shane Gustafson (W, 2-0), who maintained control, limiting the Chukars to only two runs and six hits over five innings. Despite Gabriel Vasquez hitting the team’s only home run of the night, a solo shot in the seventh, Idaho Falls struggled to produce key hits when it mattered, a persistent issue throughout their current losing streak.
The Chukars will seek to end this downturn on Friday when they face the Raptors again in the fourth game of a six-game series, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
In the current PBL standings, Idaho Falls remains in fourth place, trailing behind the Missoula PaddleHeads, Rocky Mountain Vibes, and the Oakland Ballers. The Chukars aim to regroup and bounce back as the season continues. Stay tuned for updates on their journey.
